What If We Did Church God’s Way?

What would happen if we did church God’s way?

Would we need the flashy lights and microphones,

The well-conducted symphony that never sings off key,

With every shirt perfectly pressed and every shoe perfectly polished,

An audience attuned to every command? “Wake up, stop slacking.

Show enthusiasm for the well structured, expertly rehearsed

Display that declares we are one, we are reaching for the prize,

We are going to succeed, God is on our side

Because we are determined, so determined to make our voices heard.”

Then everybody says “That was a great worship.” Then off they go,

Each their own way, minding their own business, Monday comes and nothing changes.

What if we, who claim to be the body of Christ, would do more than sing a few songs

And call it worship? What if we took a moment, without the flashy lights, loud cymbals,

and louder songs, to get quiet before God and listen to His voice?

What if we everybody was allowed to minister one to another,

Each one using whatever gift they have, be it a prophecy, a healing, a miracle,

A testimony, or perhaps a word of encouragement?

What if the Holy Spirit was allowed to have His way? What if?

What would church look like?

Readers please note: Some churches seem to be more in tune to the Holy Spirit than others. The reason for my poem is not to judge any particular church but to ask the question: What would church look like if we all fully surrendered to God?
